Consultancy for Training of Trainers on SBCC material development using Art for Social Change Methodologies

TERMS OF REFERENCE (ToR)

Duration: 12 days (6 days training ToTs including preparation end reporting, 4 days reviewing the CISP Manual and 2 days online follow up sessions)

Location: Mumias

1. Background:

CISP (Comitato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo dei Popoli)

CISP Kenya carries out projects in areas of development by supporting national and county authorities to provide quality, equitable, transparent and accountable services in the sectors of higher education, child protection, culture, food security and nutrition. Currently, CISP is the Consortium lead for numerous development projects across multiple Counties and sectors in Kenya.

CISP is leading a consortium of partners to implement a Child Protection project funded by AICS in four sub-Counties in Nakuru and Kakamega Counties. The project is focusing on four components: prevention of child abuse, child participation and empowerment, capacity development and systems strengthening and participatory research.

Child Rights Clubs have been established in the four targeted sub counties with teachers being selected to provide support and guide the clubs as CRC patrons. Training of CRC patrons and Project staff on art for social change will be very key to enable them:

· Guide children in development of Behavior Change Communication Materials

· Enhance the self-confidence and well being of girls and boys and be able to share their experiences with regards to their protection.

· Enable children to envision solutions to problems they face in school, at home and generally within the community.

The purpose of this assignment is to train ToTs (teachers who are Child Rights Club patrons and project staff) on Art for Social Change methodology with a focus on photovoice, painting and drawing and review the existing Art for Social Change Manual to fit the context.

2. Objectives

  • Facilitate a ToTs on development of SBCC (Social and behavioral Change Communication) material using Art for Social Change methodologies.
  • Review of Art for Positive Living and Social Change Guide A Facilitation Guide for Child Right Clubs’ Mentors/Patrons on use of Art for Child Protection and to include relevant topics and methodologies

3. List of deliverables

  • 1 TOTs training session for CRC patrons and project staff on development of SBCC material using Art for Social Change methodologies
  • Revised CISP Guide
  • Virtual follow up sessions

4. Time frame

The consultancy should be carried out between April 2021 and October 2021

ACTIVITY -DURATION:

  • Preparation of TOT program and submission to CISP team for approval -1 day
  • Carry out TOT training in Mumias- 4 days
  • Organize on line follow-up session with TOT participants- 2 days in the last quarter of 2021
  • Revision and adaptation of CISP Guide - 4 days
  • Preparation and submission of report -1 day

4. Qualifications and experiences

  • Strong facilitation skills
  • At least 3 years’ experience as an art for social change facilitator.
  • Specific knowledge of participatory visual arts methodologies, including Photovoice.
  • A deep understanding of child protection issues and related social norms.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective and meaningful working relations with partners and staff in general
  • Fluent in English
  • Knowledge of Kiswahili is an added value.
  • Excellent communication skills

  1. Technical proposal (max 5 pages):

The technical proposal should include (I) profile of the Consultant with particular emphasis on previous experience in this kind of work (ii) Clear explanation about how the task will be accomplished, which tools and methodologies will be used (iii) Draft work plan.

  1. Financial Proposal:

The financial proposal should provide cost estimates in Kenyan shillings for services rendered including daily consultancy fees, stationery and supplies needed for the training and transport and accommodation charges.

  1. At least 2 References to previous similar works.
