Our Literacy Specialist is responsible for overseeing the design and quality of The Library Project program. Our Literacy Specialist will provide technical guidance, oversight, and support to all our o field team. The position will closely collaborate with the program team for implementing our activities. This position will report to the CEO and will require regular travel in Asia.

What does The Library Project do?

The Library Project donates books and libraries to under financed rural primary schools and orphanages in Asia. We believe education is the key motivator to breaking the cycle of poverty that exists in the developing world. As we see it, education is change.

Primary responsibilities:

The successful candidate thrives in a small team but dynamic work environment and is able to adapt to meet evolving organizational needs and priorities.

· Responsible for The Library Project program quality and outcomes.

· Coordinate with program team to ensure proper implementation of the program.

· Implement the monitoring and evaluation analysis, protocols, and ensure data quality

· Collaborates with program team members in developing and adapting the program design.

· Ensures program guidelines and modules are being implemented and adapted to the local context, as needed.

· Provides technical advice and guidance in support of program implementation

· Adapting training materials for effective teacher trainings

· Developing country-specific material for use in trainings and teacher support

· Provide knowledge of adult learning methodologies and best practices in delivering effective trainings

· Developp curriculum and/or educational learning materials for students or teachers

· Conducts an analysis to identify gaps for developing teachers skills, identifying content and structure for training materials, and designing training and workshop modules for teachers.

· Provide program trainings. This includes conducting direct training for teachers, librarians, and students, as well as building the capacity of the team to conduct the trainings.

· Visits program sites to assess effectiveness of program design and implementation, training, workshops.

Desired skills and qualities:

· A post-graduate degree in education or a social sciences or any other relevant discipline

· Significant experience in one or more Southeast Asia country including visiting primary classrooms and working with teachers and children around issues of learning

· Excellent communication skills in English and at least one local language (Vietnamese, Mandarin, Khmer or Lao)

· Experience with reading/literacy or learning improvement programs will be an asset

· Experience in language education at the primary stage will be an asset

· Experience of teaching at the primary stage will be an asset

· Ability and willingness to travel internationally

Terms:

Located in the TLP office in Ho Chi Minh City.

Salary range: please send us your expectations. The Library Project will provide a salary in line with the Vietnamese usual pay scale.
